Attempted murder charge after gunshots on side of hinterland road
A 53-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly fired a gun at a young motorist who had pulled over on the side of the road in the Scenic Rim region.

A young man has made a lucky escape after an armed man allegedly fired a gun at him in the Scenic Rim region.
A 53-year-old man has since been charged with attempted murder after the incident on Boxing Day.
The 22-year-old Rosevale man was travelling along Rosevale Road in a Toyota Hilux around 6am. When he pulled over to the side of the road and exited his vehicle.
Police allege the 53-year-old man, was travelling behind him in a Toyota Landcruiser, and he pulled up behind the younger man and shot a firearm towards him, striking the Toyota Hilux.
The 22-year-old fled the scene in his vehicle and sought refuge at a nearby service station in Aratula. He was not physically injured.
Police allege the two men are unknown to each other.
Specialist police and POLAIR were deployed to the area, and the 53-year-old man was arrested in bushland around 1.30pm.
The man has been charged with attempted murder, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, authority required to possess explosives, obstruct police and possession of a knife in a public place.
The man is due before Ipswich Magistrates Court on Friday.
