Aspley tobacco shop targeted in armed robbery

A tobacco shop employee has been threatened during an armed robbery at a tobacco shop in Brisbane’s north.

Police are investigating after an armed robbery at a tobacco shop in Brisbane’s north.

Officers were called to the tobacco shop on Robinson Road West, Aspley, after a man entered the premises using threats and demanding cash from the store attendant.

It is understood a man wearing a mask, armed with a knife entered the store about 10pm, He demanded money from a male staff member who complied, before leaving the scene on foot.

No-one was injured in the incident and investigations are ongoing.

Police are appealing to anyone in the vicinity of Robinson Road West and Navua Ave around the time of the incident, including anyone with CCTV or dashcam vision of the area, to contact them.

It comes after a dozen arson attacks believed to be linked to the ­illegal tobacco trade were investigated by Queensland police in the past year alone.

Earlier in the year a tobacco shop at Stanthorpe was destroyed after a suspicious overnight fire.

In December a Wickham Street tobacconist in Fortitude Valley was destroyed in a suspicious fire.
