A Lamborghini-driving alleged drug trafficker caught after cops seized hundreds of thousands of dollars in cocaine in a dramatic border bust has opted not to apply for bail.
Joshua Peter Moore, 30, was one of five people charged as part of the joint sting by Australian Federal Police and Queensland police.
He was arrested after police intercepted an alleged drug courier van at the border checkpoint at Bilinga on the southern Gold Coast last Friday.
Police allegedly found about 1kg of cocaine, worth $380,000, hidden inside two cryovac bags submerged inside a paint tin in the van.
The drugs were among 2.1kg of cocaine allegedly found in multiple raids, along with about $1.15m in cash, encrypted mobile phones, designer watches worth more than $800,000, luxury cars including a Lamborghini 724 Huracan, a jet ski and cash counting machine.
Moore first appeared in Southport Magistrates Court on Monday and a bail hearing was set down for Thursday.
However, defence lawyer Michael Dwyer did not proceed with a bail application and Moore was remanded in custody.
Moore appeared in the dock in prison greens, with his family in court for support.
A woman, believed to be Moore’s mother, put her head in her lap and wept as she sat in the public gallery.
He will next face court on December 7.
Gold Coast dog breeder Daniel Jung-Hyun Cho, 29, was also nabbed as part of the operation and was refused bail.
He is due back in court on December 16.
