Two vulnerable young girls aged just 13 and 14 were allegedly drugged and violently raped by a pair of “predatory” Sudanese men after they met for the first time at a Brisbane train station late on a Saturday night, prosecutors have claimed.

Details of the alleged sexual assaults were revealed in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Saturday when one of the accused rapists applied for bail before veteran Magistrate Annette Hennessy.

Abdalaziz Ismail Idris appeared in court accused of supplying cannabis to a child and for raping one of the teens at a house in Slacks Creek early in the morning of December 1.

He intends to contest the charges, and his DNA has been taken by police although there is expected to be “significant delays” for the results, his Legal Aid duty lawyer told the court.

The 27-year-old’s co-accused, Shimiye Ivan, 23, is also charged with rape, the court heard.

Police will allege that both men were aware the girls were children but continued to pursue them for sex.

One of the alleged victims told police that Idris and Ivan both knew their ages and that the men had lied and said they were 18 and 19, when they were 22 and 26 at the time.

Both men are charged with raping one girl each, and with a second rape as a party, because the girls were raped in the same bed at Ivan’s home.

If convicted of rape the men face a possible life sentence in prison.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Wade Domagala told the court that Idris was a risk to the community if released.

Ms Hennessy refused to grant Idris bail saying his alleged behaviour was “predatory” and he needed to be kept “away from young girls”.

One girl described Ivan’s alleged assault on her as “really really rough”, and said she did not consent to it.

When the younger girl went to the police station to report the alleged rape she told police it hurt to sit down, and forensic medical staff found a bruise on her inner thigh.

Police will allege that both girls are likely to suffer a lifelong impact from the alleged crimes.

The girls allegedly told police that they became ill and vomited several times in the backyard of a Woodrige house after they went there to smoke cannabis from a bong.

Idris, who lives with his parents at Runcorn and works full-time at KB Barber Shop in Moorooka, in Brisbane’s south, is alleged to have bought the cannabis for $30 earlier in the night, telling the girls it was “medical grade”.

The girls met Idris and Ivan after they approached them at Woodridge Railway Station at midnight and asked if they wanted to hang out.

After they vomited, one girl told the men she just wanted to go to sleep, police will allege.

The group then caught an Uber to Ivan’s home in Slacks Creek and the girls went into a bedroom together and tried to go to sleep.

Later, police will allege the men got into the bed and raped them.

Despite being ill from the drugs the girls physically resisted being sexually assaulted, police will allege.

Police will allege the girls identified Idris from a police photo board. He has an obvious deformity to his left index finger, police will alelge.

He was also allegedly identified from closed-circuit television footage taken at the Woodridge train station, where he was allegedly wearing a red cap, black T-shirt and distinctive running shoes.

Ms Hennessy refused to free Idris on bail and he is set to return to Beenleigh Magistrates Court on February 12, via video-link, when co-accused Ivan will also return to court.

“They are very serious allegations of predatory behaviour on two young girls, 13 and 14, late at night picking them up at a train station and then allegedly supplying them with drugs and then later committing the rape offences,” Ms Hennessy told Idris.

“I don’t consider that any bail conditions could properly protect the community from such behaviour.

“Your … history … indicating that you are prepared to engage in this type of behaviour, to a lesser extent, on past occasions.

“I would want you on a 24 hour curfew, which means you could not go to work or anything, to keep you away from young girls.”

She also ordered he must undergo a medical test for sexually transmitted diseases.
