The former ringleader of a child exploitation gang preyed on children online within a month of being released from immigration detention.

The Herald Sun can reveal Emran Dad, 33, was last year jailed for six months after admitting to multiple breaches of his reporting obligations as a registered sex offender.

The convicted pedophile’s phone and internet use had been restricted, and he was not to have contact with minors without police approval.

But soon after being released in November 2023 following the High Court ruling against indefinite detention of asylum seekers, he created email, TikTok, Instagram and Bigo accounts and started talking to underage girls.

Dad pleaded guilty in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court in March last year to 13 counts of failing to comply with his reporting obligations.

He was also convicted of wilfully trespassing in public, after he failed to heed requests to leave a public area in Dandenong on November 24 – just days following his release.

His six-month punishment meant he was under the 12-month sentence threshold which immediately activates deportation.

The Herald Sun understands he has been charged again over family violence and visa breaches since his release from prison.
