Brisbane Airport is located 16 km north-east of the CBD with separate international and domestic terminals, both of which are serviced by a host of major carriers. The easiest way to reach the city from here is by Airtrain or you can take a shuttle bus, taxi, coach, public bus or an Uber.

Airtrain from Brisbane Airport

It takes 20 minutes to reach the city by Airtrain with services running every 15 minutes during peak times and every 30 minutes in off-peak periods. Once you reach the city, you can travel to the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and throughout Brisbane on the Queensland Rail suburban network.

Services start at 5am on weekdays and 6am on weekends, and finish rather early at 10pm. Tickets can be purchased for $19 at the Airtrain desks in each of the terminals, or at the station. Purchasing Airtrain tickets online saves 15%. Online tickets can be used two days either side of the booked date.

If you are planning on using the Brisbane, Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast public transport systems during your visit to Queensland, a go card or go seeQ card will save you money. The go seeQ card is especially for visitors and includes travel for three or five consecutive calendar days and two Airtrain journeys.

Taxi from Brisbane Airport

Taxis are available 24/7 at a dedicated taxi rank at the International and Domestic terminals, both of which are staffed during peak periods. An off-peak ride to the city takes around 20 minutes and costs approximately $50 one way. Peak hour trips cost more and can take up to an hour.

Coach from Brisbane Airport

Greyhound Australia offer coach services to and from Brisbane Airport, and throughout Australia. Prices start at $12 for a one-way Early Bird ticket to the Brisbane Coach Terminal at Roma Street Station in the city.  There are half a dozen transfer times to choose from, starting early in the morning and finishing just after 5pm.

Public bus from Brisbane Airport

There is a regular public bus service available at Brisbane Airport, but you will need to make your way to the nearby Skygate Centre using the free Skygate Airport Transfer bus to catch it. Bus 590 takes you to the Toombul Interchange where there is a range of public transport options to the city, or other Brisbane suburbs.
