Woman tapes call to teacher who allegedly abused her

WHEN Jamie realised it was too late to report the teacher who allegedly abused her for years, she decided to call and confront the woman instead.

A WOMAN has called her former teacher to confront her about the alleged sex abuse she suffered as a child and posted a video of the call online.

Jamie Carrillo, 28, taped the phone call she made to her alleged abuser, who has since stepped down as assistant principal at a California high school.

In the video Ms Carrillo said she recently decided she wanted to report her former teacher for the abuse she said began when she was 12 years old, but realised the statute of limitations had run out.

In Australia there is no statute of limitations for reporting rape.

"She gets away with everything she has done. So I decided I'm going to call her to get some answers," Ms Carrillo said in the video.

Ms Carrillo called the woman while she was at work and told her that her life was ruined.

"I was only 12 years old when I met you. Do you realise that you brain washed me and you manipulated me and that what you did was wrong?," she said.

The woman replied: "Yes … and I regret it."

Ms Carrillo then asked: "Do you know that I am completely messed up and I have so many issues because of you?"

"I only wanted to help you," the woman said. "That wasn't anything that I intended. I don't know what happened."

In an interview with KTLA 5 Ms Carrillo said the woman was her coach when she was in middle school. She said the abuse began with the coach kissing her in the locker room and escalated to the point where she was taken on out-of-town trips to have sex.

The Alhambra Unified School District issued a letter to parents saying the woman no longer works for the district.

"Alhambra police department will be handing this matter over to the jurisdiction of the appropriate police department," the statement read.

The Alhambra Unified School District said no students had come forward with allegations of abuse against the woman.
