A seven-year-old boy is sporting a nasty wound after being hit by meteorites.
Steven Lippard, 7, was struck by something outside the family home in Palm Beach County, Florida.
His parents believed he was hit by a golf ball or a bird until they found several small rocks on the ground nearby, Local 6 News reported.
The rocks were taken to Florida Atlantic University to be tested.
Initial findings showed the rocks were metallic and could have come from space. Scientists are doing further tests.
Meteorite strikes on the Earth are relatively rare, although an asteroid exploded over the Russian city of Chelyabinsk in February, injuring more than 1000 people and damaging more than 7000 buildings.
