Elon Musk has revealed that Twitter is changing its famous blue bird logo in the latest series of controversial shake-ups to the social media platform.
“X.com now points to twitter.com,” the Tesla chief executive tweeted on Sunday.
“Interim X logo goes live later today.”
Musk, who bought the site last October, intends to replace the blue avian silhouette with an “X” logo by as early as Monday if a suitable design is offered.
The billionaire polled his millions of followers whether they would favour changing the site’s colour scheme from blue to black.
He posted a picture of a stylised X against a black outer space-themed background.
“And soon we shall bid adieu to the twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds”, he said. The company said it would be commenting on the changes later.
The company came under widespread criticism from users and marketing professionals when Musk announced earlier this month that Twitter would limit how many tweets per day various accounts can read.
