Cult of the Lamb wedding ritual in Melbourne raises eyebrows

Two people dressed as lambs publicly declared their love in a unique way today in Melbourne, getting married at PAX Aus in Melbourne.

In the computer game, players take control of a lamb and are tasked with forming a cult to appease a deity. They then attempt to complete quests and defeat enemies.

Today’s wedding was the first of two legally-binding ceremonies planned at the event.

The betrothed were both dressed as lambs, giving the marriage a furry-like vibe as they were joined in “unholy matrimony” by the celebrant.

The guests were dressed in red robes as per the game as a large crowd watched on with “not a dry eye in sight”.

Video posted to social media drew lots of views - and plenty of comments about the unorthodox ceremony.

According to Siliconera, the Cult of the Lamb wedding ritual is something players can do in-game.

It is performed with a follower and allows players to increase ‘loyalty’ and earn ‘faith’.

PAX Aus featured a calendar packed full of gaming events. It was divided into three areas including Pax Rising, Tabletop and the Expo Hall.

Pax Rising highlights the independent gaming development scene. Tabletop is for board games and role playing games. The Expo Hall is for major publishers and game demos.

Many of the guests were decked out in cosplay outfits.
