THE world of video games is serious business, being worth an estimated $A120 billion last year alone.
Advancements in technology mean the industry will continue to grow, which is exciting news for gamers across the globe.
The EB Games Expo is a celebration of the industry, showcasing the unreleased content, the latest in pop culture and the most spectacular Cosplay ever seen.
This year’s event promises to be bigger than ever, with the addition of an alley designed to celebrate the world of professional video games, which is known as E-Sport.
News.com.au got early access to the event and has pulled together a list of the top five things to do and see at the expo.
1. JUST DANCE
The world’s biggest music video game franchise is back with 40 of the latest tracks from Sia, Major Lazer and Bieber.
With six updated game modes, Just Dance 2017 is the biggest offering from the franchise to date.
At EB Expo, you have the chance to try out the game and see how your skills measure up against the professionals.
It’s a good workout and surprisingly fun — even if you do feel like a bit of a twat.
2. COSPLAY
Short for costume play, Cosplay is a performance art where people dress up as their favourite characters from video games and pop culture.
The people involved in cosplay put in some serious effort to look like these characters and the results are evident.
For those dedicated people spending thousands of dollars and endless hours to perfect their look, EB Expo will be holding a Just ‘Cos Cosplay Competition — something well worth checking out.
3. DRONE SHOOTING
The Mountain Dew velodrome is a cataclysm of lightning-fast drone racing and laser gaming.
Essentially, professional drone pilots fly around an obstacle course, while participants try and shoot them with laser beams.
The winner is the competitor that hits the most drones.
It’s an awesome visual experience and a lot of fun, especially because news.com.au won our session.
4. FORZA HORIZON 3
We have covered Forza Horizon 3 a couple of times now.
The open-world racing game set entirely in Australia and has features some iconic local cars.
At EB Expo, players have the chance to drive through some of Australia’s most iconic locations on the new Xbox One S consoles.
Alternatively, you can line up and get a go in the driving simulator, which offers a more authentic experience.
5. DRIVECLUB VR
The classic PlayStation title has been completelyreengineered to be played in virtual reality.
Players will have the chance to sit in a driving simulator, while wearing a PlayStation VR headset for what can only be described as an exhilarating and authentic driving experience.
You just have to be ready for the scary moments when you are ploughing straight into a barrier fence.
