Perhaps this explains the Royals’ 3.34 postseason ERA.

Catcher Salvador Perez wears women’s perfume for every game, and umpires rave about the smell.

“You smell good, my friend, thank you,” they tell him, Perez told the New York Times. “We sweat, stink, you know. We need to put on something — just on the field. A lot different off the field.”

It began one day when shortstop Alcides Escobar sprayed some perfume on Perez’s jersey, prophesying it would get him four hits. Perez, indeed, got four hits, so he ordered a dozen boxes.

His preferred brands are Victoria’s Secret and 212 VIP.

Maybe Perez should switch to cologne. It couldn’t hurt his .135 playoff batting average.
