‘Holy s**t’: UFC world in disbelief over terrifying head kick decapitation

One of the best head kicks you’ll ever see has sent shockwaves through the UFC after a fighter needed to be stretchered out of the octagon.

Terrifying head kick KO rocks UFC

Remember the name Shi Ming.

One of the great head kicks has instantly changed the life of 30-year-old Chinese women’s strawweight star Shi Ming after she took out the “Road to UFC” tournament.

Fighting on the preliminary card of the UFC Fight Night featuring a clash between former bantamweight champion Petr Yan and ex-flyweight king Deiveson Figueiredo, Shi sent the 22-year-old heavy favourite Feng Xiaocan to hospital in a stretcher and a neck brace after the brutal knockout blow.

With many believing Feng was up two rounds to none heading into the third and final round, Shi threw a few weak hands before unloading a hellacious head kick that had Feng knocked out before she hit the canvas.

The referee immediately tackled Shi off as she went to her corner as medical officials rushed to Feng’s side.

“What a baby-faced assassin,” Laura Sanko said in commentary as they raved over the victory.

But the brutal blow required a stretcher and a neck brace for Feng such was the brutal impact of the head kick.

Feng was awake and speaking to medical staff in the ring but taken to hospital because of how long she was unconscious for.

After Feng was removed from the ring and taken to hospital, Shi was officially awarded the result, but was emotional after in the post-fight interview with UFC great Michael Bisping.

“I feel really happy and I actually feel really worried about my opponent,” Shi said.

“I really hope she’s okay. She’s young and … sorry,” Shi added as she wiped away tears.

“That’s what happened at semi-finals, I had a lot of opportunities to knock out my opponent but I think I have too much mercy and I’m not aggressive enough.

“This time and many times I’ve shown I have knock out power. I think I’m going to be a dangerous girl in the future. And good luck to my next opponent.”

Shi, who is also a registered doctor, blew UFC fans away with the wild finish.

Bookies’ Adam Martin tweeted: “Shi Ming just knocked out Feng Xiaocan so bad that they had to bring a stretcher in the Octagon. That girl needs to get a 50k bonus. You just don’t see brutal head kick KO's like that at women’s 115.”

For the record, at women’s strawweight, the knockout percentage is just 12.8 per cent, easily the lowest in the UFC.

DieHard MMA podcast host Clint MacLean wrote: “Ming Shi with a MASSIVE head kick my god. I said that I did not see a path to victory for her in this fight. In my defence I didn’t think she could kick a tree in half.”

One fan commented: “Shiiii Ming what a headshot … ‘somebody call a doctor!’ … we did she just decapitated a girl.”

Another tweeted: “Damn, I think that has to be the nastiest knockout in strawweight history.

“Didn’t look like Ming had a chance only really landing the right bodykick all fight. Went high with it once and nuked Xiaocan.”

A third wrote: “Doesn’t matter what happens next, Ming Shi is the main hero of this card. +430 underdog landing KO of the year in WMMA and one of the best knockouts in WMMA history, all that in her home country being a huge underdog. Wow. Just wow.”

And there were plenty more that couldn’t get much more than “holy s**t” out after the insane finish.

In good news for Feng, while she was transported to hospital, she was able to move her arms and was able to speak to medical personnel.

However she didn’t remember what had happened but was reportedly alert in the ambulance.

It was later revealed that there were no fractures or damage to her neck and she was able to move all her extremities.
