Tennis star Lois Boisson’s perfect response to rival’s disrespectful claim

Lois Boisson has given the perfect response to her rival after she was on the end of a cheap shot from English tennis star Harriet Dart.

Tennis player asks for opponent to put deodorant on

French tennis star Lois Boisson has been commended for the way she handled her tennis rival calling her stinky in a nasty incident at the Open de Rouen in France.

As Britain’s Harriett Dart was wiped off the court by the World No. 303 – who only recently returned from a lengthy injury lay-off – the 28-year-old Dart complained to the chair umpire that her opponent was stinking up the court.

After Dart was passed by Boisson at the end of a changeover in the second set, she leapt to her feet, asking the chair umpire to instruct her opponent to “put on some deodorant”.

“Can you ask her to put on deodorant? She smells really bad,” Dart was heard saying to the official as she struggled against the 21-year-old Frenchwoman in the first round.

The quip understandably sparked an immediate backlash on social media.

But Boisson had the last laugh with a 6-0 6-3 win — her very first victory in top-level WTA Tour matches.

And then she further endeared herself to fans with a cheeky social media post, calling for Dove to sponsor her, alongside an Instagram picture with a photoshopped stick of deodorant in her hand.

“@Dove apparently need a collab,” she wrote with two laughing emojis in a post after the match.

Tennis fans flooded her comment section in response, commending her composure and lighthearted response to the ugly incident.

“Perfect response,” one fan wrote

“Outstanding. I’m now a fan,” another said.

While another said: “Lois 2-0 over Dart today!”

After cooling off, Dart took to social media herself, to apologise for her actions in an Instagram post.

“Hey everyone, I want to apologise for what I said on court today,” she wrote. “It was a heat-of-the-moment comment that I truly regret.

“That’s not how I want to carry myself, and I take full responsibility.

“I have a lot of respect for Lois and how she competed today.

“I’ll learn from this and move forward.”

It came after Dart was heavily criticised for her comment after footage of the incident circulated online.

Tennis podcaster Chris Goldsmith wrote: “Not sure she is going to get much sympathy on this one......”

While writer Stephanie Myles said: “Must have been the wafting stink that had Dart go down … love and three … to a French player ranked No. 303 who’s just coming back from a nine-month injury lay-off. The Dartster is going to have trouble living THIS one down.”

Boisson climbed up the rankings to a career-high world No. 152 last year on the back of four clay-court titles in lower-level tournaments.

She was set to make her debut in a grand slam main draw as a wildcard at her home French Open, however, was struck down by an ACL injury and only returned to action in February.
