THE disappointment of a reneged $270,000 sale could be erased in one fell swoop if Weinholt can win the Magic Millions Guineas.

THE disappointment of a reneged $270,000 sale could be erased in one fell swoop if Weinholt can win tomorrow's Magic Millions Guineas.

Weinholt runs for breeder Basil Nolan, his wife Di and son Basil Jr.

It wasn't meant to be this way, but the family won't be complaining should he land the prize tomorrow.

Weinholt, a son of Stratum, was knocked down at the 2012 Magic Millions for $270,000 to Rick Hore-Lacy out of Nolan's Raheen Stud draft.

When the Melbourne trainer couldn't come up with the funds, Nolan took the horse back, offering him to underbidder Peter Moody to train.

So far, Hore-Lacy is in front, but with $120,000 already banked, the potential is there to say the $270K is within reach.

A last start second to the highly rated Sweet Idea has connections thinking they are a live player tomorrow, particularly with Moody buoyant about blinkers going back on.

"He didn't really get around that bend at Wyong and I suppose that's the big concern again here at the Coast," Nolan said.

"But we believe there's further improvement in him from that race and he has run second to (subsequent Caulfield Guineas winner) Long John over the trip, so that's in his favour.

"With any big race, you don't go in expecting, but we're hopeful and it's lovely to be a part of it with a horse that looks a chance."

It could be a big day for Raheen, who sold Magic Millions 2YO Classic contenders Divine Service and Ruby Soho.
