TRAINER Trevor Bailey is keen to head to Melbourne in the Spring with two-year-old filly Tales Of Fashion after her upset at Doomben on Saturday.
Tales Of Fashion ($18) scored by a half head to Freezethemillions ($15) with a short head to Elitist ($31) third in the Listed Lancaster Stakes (1200m).
Bailey said Tales Of Fashion would probably not continue on this winter as she had won her grand final.
“We picked this race for her because we were looking for black type. She has it now and she hasn’t been entered for any of the big races this winter.”
“But I do have a big opinion of her and she should have been unbeaten in all of her starts. The Melbourne Spring is really the carnival in our mind but we will now have to have a bit of a think.”
Bailey, the son of former top trainer Alan Bailey, is now back on the Gold Coast after stints in Singapore and in Newcastle.
“I am slowly building up my team and I have a lot of young horses.”
Jockey Blake Shinn gave an outstanding display to get a split eye rails run to get home in a driving three-way finish.
“I didn’t know much about her before the race but Trevor told me she was smart and he was right.”
Victorian filly Kalabek blew from $2.70 to $3.80 and missed the start before finishing unplaced.
Winter plans for her are now up in the air.
The unlucky runner was fourth-placed Rosalee who reared in the air at the start but finished hard in the straight.
