Randwick Race 6: Flight Stakes

1600m, 3YO F G1, 3.20pm

In the run: Can’t see them going hard, unless Global Glamour jumps on terms and takes the ascendancy like she did in the cavalier debut win. Skylight Glow and Bridle Lane handy.

Take note: Awoke and Sezanne are left to carry the Chris Waller hopes with top seeds Omei Sword (spelled) and Foxplay (saved for next week) missing. Awoke should have finished closer last time. Desperate for more ground and did beat Foxplay fair and square in July.

Did you know: Yankee Rose firmed to odds-on fav after the Omei Sword scratching. She’s the proven class runner but how well is she going? Won a trial well enough beating a BM65 horse on September 23, but did over-race in the Golden Rose and now has to see out 1600m.

Early money: The scratching of Omei Sword shook betting upside down. Wouldn’t be surprised to see bookmakers gamble against Yankee Rose at the short quote.

Nathan’s tip:Awoke $6

Nathan’s danger: Yankee Rose $1.90

Doomben Race 6: Class 3 Plate

1350m, C3 SW, 3.34pm

In the run: Not huge speed. Pepperano can roll forward off her wide gate and should have the speed to get in. Liberty’s Choice will be on a similar path.

Take note: The Umbrella Man was well-backed in a couple of these C3 Plates before being given an easier kill in C1 grade last time. Sat closer there and can do the same off good draw here.

Did you know: Pepperano is 35 days between runs, but has been kept up to the mark with a 1200m barrier trial win in the interim. Drawn out, will be able to take her time getting across from this good start and she has a class edge in this field.

Early money: A good move for Natalie McCall’s I Can’t See Who chasing a third straight win. He’s been $35-$11.

Nathan’s tip: Pepperano $3.40

Nathan’s danger: The Umbrella Man $9

Randwick Race 7: Epsom Handicap

1600m, G1, 4pm

In the run: Can’t see anything taking on Fabrizio, who will roll along at a solid clip. Le Romain handy, while Sons Of John and Dibayani likely to roll forward from wide gates.

Take note: McCreery has had a similar prep to He’s Your Man, who won this for the Waller stable two years ago. Is improving with each start and drawn to get it soft and then be strong at the end.

Did you know: Fabrizio is aiming to be the first horse to win this off a non-stakes lead-up run in at least the past 30 years. Hard to know what to make of him, but the last start rating in super quick time stacks up on a number of fronts. Gai Waterhouse knows better than anyone what it takes to win this race.

Early money: Fabrizio has kept firming all week. Hauraki has plenty of admirers and carries in the best formline, but will he find one better again?

Nathan’s tip: McCreery $6

Nathan’s danger: Fabrizio $6

Randwick Race 8: The Metropolitan

2400m, G1, 4.40pm

In the run: Antonio Giuseppe relished the pacemaker role last week, so no reason they won’t try the same again. Storm The Stars won’t be far away.

Take note: Allergic lumped 58kg to win last week and now gets huge weight relief, with top Melbourne apprentice Michael Dee to ride. Aside from last week, previous run this distance range was a 3rd to Delicacy and Hong Kong champ Werther in SA Derby.

Did you know: Antonio Giuseppe carved out a 33.72sec final 600m after controlling the race from the front last week. Had been hard ridden a long way out to win previous two, indicating he was desperate for more ground. Hard to run down with the feather weight.

Early money: Who Shot Thebarman ($8.50-$7) and Allergic (in from $7.50) comfortably the best tried runners.

Nathan’s tip: Antonio Giuseppe $6

Nathan’s danger: Allergic $6

Off & Racing: Randwick Epsom Handicap Day
