MICHAEL Cahill is hoping rain doesn't take the sting out of what looks one of the best book of rides assembled by any rider in Australia this season.

Cahill is on four pre-post favourites, including juvenile hotpots Vienna Royale and Oakleigh Girl, plus rates himself a good hope in the Just Now Quality on Anna Lizzie.

"It looks a good book and I'm particularly looking forward to riding the two two-year-olds, but just looking through it, I don't want the track to become too rain affected," Cahill said.

The Premier jockey rode Vienna Royale on debut, but knows today will be no cake walk from the outside alley at what is known as a dynamite start.

Cahill says an inside barrier at the Doomben 1010m start is worth two lengths. "They seldom win from out there," he said. "I'm just hoping he's one that can overcome it because he has high speed and being a two-year-old race, a lot of them aren't as experienced out of the gates, which might make it easier getting across.

"He was pretty impressive on debut and definitely one of the most impressive two-year-olds in Brisbane this season."

Cahill warms the saddle for Craig Newitt on Oakleigh Girl for Danny Bougoure, who he has won a Doomben 10,000 on Falvelon and a Glasshouse at Caloundra on Scenic Peak for.

"I seem to have good luck with Danny in big races," Cahill said. "I understand Craig Newitt has the Magic Millions booking but it's nice to get the chance on her here."

Poste Restante and Fillydelphia round out the public elects for the rider today. "Fillydelphia is always a chance in these sort of races," he said. "The heavy track dented her turn of foot last time.

"I thought she would win coming to the turn last time but she just didn't accelerate like she can.

"Dead to slow would probably be ideal for her.

"Poste Restante is always scratchy in the gates but hopefully I can stay in the saddle this time!"

Anna Lizzie needs luck from back in the field, but Cahill rates her one of the more promising horses in training and said the stable is very happy with her progress.

"I rode her when they walked in front, which didn't suit at all," he said. "If they run along, she's a good chance for sure."
