While Isotope and Away Game have dominated betting on the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas third favourite Forbidden Love is garnering plenty of support for the big race.

RICHARD Freedman will happily play the role of spoiler if his filly Forbidden Love can gatecrash the Isotope and Away Game party in tomorrow’s Magic Millions Guineas.

Isotope and Away Game have dominated Guineas discussions since their memorable clash in the Gold Edition Plate on December 12.

But Forbidden Love, who is prepared by Freedman and his brother Michael, burst into calculations after a dominant Gosford Guineas win and market assessors have kept her safe ever since.

“She’s a good filly and she seems to be in good form. I think 1400m is her right distance. I can see her running well,” Freedman said.

“She just keeps improving, which is a good sign.

“I think that goes with the breed. Those All Too Hards as they turn three, they seem to improve a bit.”

Richard Freedman stayed in Sydney, while Michael headed north to oversee the finishing touches to the preparation for tomorrow’s $2Million race.

“Someone had to stay back and run the stable and at the time we were contemplating it, the border was locked,” Freedman said.

“It wasn’t really an option for two of us to spend two weeks in the Hunter and then go to the sales for 10 days.”

Forbidden Love was set for the Guineas after a brave third in the Group 1 Empire Rose Stakes against older mares on Derby day at Flemington.

“She went to the paddock in Victoria and had a few weeks break down there,” Freedman said.

“We always thought being a 1400m horse and Magic Millions, there’s a $2Million 1400m race, it’s too good to pass up.

“Luckily she’s the sort of filly that can cope with that.”

With James McDonald unable to make the weight, Jim Byrne received the call up to ride the filly.

“Jim’s as good a rider as there is in Queensland. He knows the track well, knows the tempo of those races, which is an important thing,” Freedman said.
