Bracelet gleams with Tinto tint as Rex Lipp seals it, but Damian Browne has other ideas

A HEFTY beaten margin was not enough to dent the confidence of Damian Browne, as well-fancied Asadaskaite played third fiddle to Tinto yesterday.

A HEFTY beaten margin was not enough to dent the confidence of Damian Browne, as well-fancied Asadaskaite played third fiddle to the previously luckless Tinto in yesterday’s Gold Coast Bracelet.

Trainer Rex Lipp said he could count five or six times where Tinto was out of luck before reuniting with Tim Bell yesterday.

Previous jockey Glen Colless had recommended blinkers for the filly and Bell was able to position her in a forward position, as opposed to her backmarker spot in recent times.

Lipp said the Red Dazzler filly, whose owner Grania McAlpine missed the race because she was at Tony Gollan’s wedding in Brisbane, will now press on to the Doomben Roses and Queensland Oaks.

Lipp had been keen to have Bell back on the filly because he was able to get her travelling earlier in her races.

But Browne feels beaten favourite Asadaskaite, despite her being five lengths adrift of the winner, is the one to follow out of the race.

“She needs a few things to be ironed out, but she’s the best horse in that race,” he said.

Runner-up Paris Match is in a similar boat according to her rider, Glen Boss.

“I did it tough all the way and she just peaked on her run, which she was entitled to.’’
