Toowoomba trainer Ben Currie, already banned for four years, is facing further penalties after being found guilty of 12 raceday treatment charges.

QRIC stewards found Currie guilty of five breaches of the race day treatment without permission laws.

He was guilty of causing the administration of a medication to five horses which raced at Gatton and Doomben on March 24 and seven horses which raced at Toowoomba on April 7, 2018.

Stewards have asked for submissions in regard to penalty.

Currie has already been banned for four years over texts relating to alleged jigger use.

After the penalties were handed down earlier this month he took to Twitter to hand down his angry response.

“Two years (for each breach) for sending a text message. That will do me. Cannot wait for an independent court …,’’ Currie tweeted.

“Imagine no possession, no evidence, not one worker/rider in my years of training say I have used a jigger — and they have interviews (sic) everyone — and somehow I get four years for messages between mates. World gone mad.

“Tip of the day for anyone in the racing industry. Don’t text or joke around with your mates, via group chat or text- you could get banned for years.’’

The Supreme Court last week rejected Currie’s bid to stop Racing Queensland rejecting his nominations to race horses, enacting a rule which states a Principal Racing Authority may decline any nomination without giving reasons for so doing.
