Alligator Blood and Catalyst both have scores to settle on behalf of their sires when they contest Saturday’s $1 million Australian Guineas.
Alligator Blood is a son of Vinery’s All Too Hard, who was rated the $1.30 favourite for the 2013 Guineas before being scratched on the morning of the race.
He had an elevated temperature, which only affected him for a short time, but was enough to rule him out of the Flemington feature.

In 2006, Darci Brahma brought Group 1-winning form from New Zealand and seemingly had the Guineas in his keeping when ambling up to Apache Cat soon after turning, but the baldy-faced Aussie packed too many guns and worried him out of the major prize.
Darci Brahma is now a resident of The Oaks Stud in New Zealand, which is owned by Queensland businessman Dick Karreman, who races Catalyst.
Alligator Blood is striving to be the first Group 1 winner by All Too Hard, who calls Vinery Stud in the Hunter Valley home.
