Australia’s popular betting site Sportsbet suffered an outage on Saturday night, leaving punters fuming as they were unable to place bets.

The site posted a message on its homepage saying: “Sorry we’re temporarily out of action. We’re woring hard to get back on track quickly. Thanks for your patience.”

Many flooded social media with their frustrations across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Disgruntled customers turned to Twitter to complain about the outage and criticise Sportsbet for not communicating with those impacted.

Sportsbet was unable to offer any betting for live NRL and AFL games and the Wallabies’ third Test with France.

It is unclear how widespread the outage was but users reported the outage after 5pm AEST. The site came back online just before 10pm AEST.

A social media post by Betfair, a subsidiary of Sportsbet’s parent company Flutter Entertainment, said the outage had meant Betfair could not offer NRL live markets in the UK.

Punters.com.au’s social media account posted a tweet showing a meme of sympathy for those dealing with the outage.

Automated customer service messages advised “no Bonus Bet compensation will be given by our Customer Service team at this time”.

Sportsbet has been contacted for comment.
