Annastacia Palaszczuk will add the 2032 Brisbane Olympics to her ministerial responsibilities as part of a minor Cabinet reshuffle.
The Premier will become Olympics Minister, while Treasurer Cameron Dick will assume her former Trade portfolio.
Deputy Premier Steven Miles will become the Minister Assisting the Premier on Olympics Infrastructure, in addition to his State Development and Local Government and Planning portfolios.
Sport Minister Stirling Hinchliffe will become the Minister Assisting the Premier on Olympics and Paralympics Sport and Engagement.
“New ministerial responsibilities are small but necessary steps towards 2032,” Ms Palaszczuk said.
“Hosting the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games will generate $8 billion in economic and social benefits in addition to 91,600 jobs.
“It is the catalyst for the biggest infrastructure building program our state has ever seen with all levels of government co-operating to deliver them in time for the games, not for them.”
The Premier said legislation that would provide for the organisational body responsible for delivering Games projects was being assessed by Games partners.
The ministers were sworn in to their new portfolios at Government House on Thursday by outgoing governor Paul de Jersey.
