Sailor Ashley Stoddart finishes second in final race to place ninth overall at Games
SAILOR Ashley Stoddart saved her best Rio performance till her final race and ended her Games campaign with a remarkable top-10 finish.

Ashley Stoddart, the laser radial sailor from Murrumba Downs, saved her best until last at her first Olympic Games.
This morning Stoddart finished second in the medal race. With points from the 10 preliminary rounds carried forward she was ninth overall.
“That was a good way to finish the regatta and the Olympics,” the 23-year-old said. “I’m really pleased.
“It didn’t really move anything on the overall ratings, but I think it was worth the wait. It was really nice conditions and I think we all enjoyed the racing.”
Stoddart had five top-10 finishes in 11 races over the week-long regatta. There were also three finishes in 11th place which gave her an overall points total of 107.
“There were a few ups and downs (in the regatta), but I think everyone had that,” said Stoddart.
“(I’ve had some) really good experiences and some of the best races of my life so far. I’m stoked. I’m really happy.”
