ANDREW Walker will once again defy age and come out of retirement to feature for the ACT Brumbies at this weekend’s Brisbane 10s.
The 44-year-old former Wallabies utility back made a successful return to professional last year at the tournament, more than a decade after last featuring for the Brumbies.
His eye-catching performances even saw coach Stephen Larkham half joke about encouraging Walker to make a return to Super Rugby.
A Super Rugby winner with the Brumbies in 2001, Walker played seven Tests for the Wallabies winning the British and Irish Lions series and Bledisloe Cup in the same year.
The Brumbies have named a relatively strong squad for the second-edition of the Brisbane 10s.
Current Wallabies Henry Speight, Kyle Godwin and Rory Arnold will all feature at the tournament.
While Lolo Fakaosilea, Lachie McCaffrey, Tom Cusack and Rob Valentinu will all be out to make an impression, with the back-row an area of strength for the two-time Super Rugby champions.
Unsurprisingly star playmaker Christian Lealiifano has been rested from the tournament and is expected to play in next week’s trial against the Chiefs.
The Brumbies have been drawn in a tough pool alongside the Crusaders, Hurricanes and Fiji.
