ISRAEL Folau has confirmed he’ll head to Japan at the end of this year to play for club side NTT Docomo Red Hurricanes.

Folau announced on Wednesday he had re-signed with the ARU and Waratahs for three more years on a flexible contract that would allow him to play overseas in between his Wallabies and Super Rugby commitments.

It was speculated that the Top League in Japan would be that off-season destination and the fullback used Twitter on Thursday to confirm he will link up with the Osaka-based Red Hurricanes.

Folau will join fellow Wallabies Bernard Foley, Ben McCalman and Wycliff Palu in the Japanese league, and his Red Hurricanes teammates will include South Africans Handre Pollard and Eben Etzebeth.

It’s believed Folau will earn around $700,000 per season in Japan, where the Top League season runs between August and February.
