Centre JoJo Fifita and fullback Dion Samuela inspired The Southport School’s 65-3 drubbing of Toowoomba Grammar on Saturday but GPS rivals will be taking notice of their set piece dominance as the competition passes its halfway mark.
Toowoomba fans were left cringing as TSS utterly dominated their hosts in a lopsided affair with Reds U18 Academy teammates Fifita and Samuela acting as chief destroyers
Fifita had two tries inside the opening 30 minutes while Samuela completed his brace early in the second half before taking a back seat in the 11-try rout.
TSS’ Round 1 hero Hamish Roberts and flanker Ngyanni Waters also bagged doubles to go with Roberts and Samuela adding five conversions between them in windy conditions.
TSS scored freely but the win was built upfront with Marlon Jones and Wilson Blyth standouts from the Gold Coast pack.
The lock duo terrorised Toowoomba’s lineout and were equally impressive at scrum time and Jones in particular with ball in hand.
