Damian McKenzie
Such speed. The warning signs were there early when the fullback scooted into the backline and rounded the out-of-position Samu Kerevi for a good gain of ground.
When Curtis Rona hit him with a strong tackle in the second half, it jolted the ball free for Kurtley Beale’s runaway try. Made nine runs for 106m.
Rating: 6.5
Ben Smith
The quietest of the All Blacks backs but he doesn’t make mistakes. Grabbed a high kick and a comfortable role.
Rating: 6
Ryan Crotty
Superb centre’s game not even considering his two tries. He does all the basics so well in support, reading the play, clean passing and solid defence. Ever alert, he swooped on the poor Bernard Foley pass that became 17-6 when he relayed to a try-bound Rieko Ioane.
Rating: 8
Sonny Bill Williams
As ever, it only takes a couple of big SBW moments to help change the course of a game. One 35m run through Sean McMahon’s tackle was eye-catching and he simple had too much strength close to the tryline when he banged through Henry Speight and Rona for his try.

Rieko Ioane
He’s loving life on the wing for the All Blacks. Checked defender Israel Folau expertly with a step and go for his first try and ran in a careless Wallaby turnover for his second. All speed and finishing class. Showed it in nine runs for 150m.

BLEDISLOE CUP: All Blacks smash Wallabies in first Test
Beauden Barrett
Brilliant. His speed of mind, foot and pass just meant the All Blacks could capitalise on the fragile Wallabies defensive system. It was a super pass on half-time when he cut out decoy SBW and put Crotty over.
Rating: 8.5
Aaron Smith
Pretty good game considering the scrambled mind he must have had with the scandal escalating around him this week. Sharp pass as ever.
Rating: 7.5
Kieran Read
Champion captain and player. He was one of the first to beat a tackle in the game, put a clubbing hit on Beale and generally drove the clinical first half.
Rating: 8
Sam Cane
The successor to Richie McCaw just gets in and does his job without fuss. Part of a superbly drilled pack.
Rating: 7.5
Liam Squire
Standout showing at flanker. Might have deserved a 9.5 but for the hairstyle which showed signs of a mullet. Explosive speed down the left touchline opened the scoring with a try and he racked up 11 runs for 136m. Adds dynamism to the pack to go with his hard work.

Sam Whitelock
Top lock. Super-slick hands in one try and the grunt work behind so many clinical plays.
Rating: 7.5
Brodie Retallick
The world’s finest lock proved it again. He’s just a big, versatile forward and always with his head-up in the action. Produced a brilliant pass in behind to Beauden Barrett, who delivered a money ball for a Ryan Crotty try. Loves linking with the backs and better than some Aussie backs at it as well.
Rating: 8.5
Owen Franks
Argued with referee Wayne Barnes about early infringements for the scrum exerting force too early. When the Kiwi scrum got it right, there were some impressive shoves.
Rating: 7
Codie Taylor
A quieter game from the hooker when the backs carving up the Wallabies.
Rating: 6.5
Joe Moody
You don’t often see it but the bearded prop charged into the clear after dummying by Speight. He’s still talking about it.
