Wallabies desperate to end NZ drought

The Wallabies will be out to undo 22 years of heartache when they host the All Blacks in the Bledisloe Cup in Sydney on Saturday.

It’s been more than two decades of domination by our trans-Tasman neighbours in the annual series, and they will have to bounce back from a record defeat to be a chance of changing history.

The Wallabies were thrashed 67-27 by Argentina in their last start, despite leading 20-17 at halftime, in what ended up a humiliating trip to South America.

The come back may be even more difficult as they line up against the All Blacks in Sydney, where recent history has favoured the visitors.

In the past four Bledisloe Cup matches held in Sydney stretching back to 2016, the All Blacks have won by an average margin of 44-15.

The Wallabies, who roll into the clash with a new halves pairing of Nic White and Noah Lolesio, will be keen to celebrate James Slipper’s record-setting 140th appearance with a victory, as the veteran prop becomes Australia’s most-capped player of all time.

The Accor Stadium test will kick-off at 3.45pm on Saturday.
