THE Red Sox’s World Series victory celebrations is a world the Average Joe like you and me can only dream of.
The iconic Boston team’s third World Series win since 2007 seems too outrageous for it to actually be true.
Widespread reports around the globe, however, suggest the 2018 champion’s $415,000 (US$300,000) bar tab for one night of celebrations is in fact for real.
As outrageous as the team’s tab was, it doesn’t tell the whole story of exactly how bonkers the party really was for the newly crowned kings of Major League Baseball.
After clinching their series with a Game 5 win over the Dodgers in Los Angeles, the Sox were spotted spraying champagne all over popular West Hollywood nightspot Nightingale.
It emerged the day after their night of debaucherous revelry that the tab didn’t even include the US$100,000 in champagne that the team was sent from an anonymous VIP sitting nearby inside the club.
The New York Post reported this week a group of around 50 Red Sox players and officials were given a police escort to the popular nightspot before they proceeded to turn it up a notch once inside.
The whole room cheered as they walked in.
“One neighbouring VIP-table client was so excited, he sent over $100,000 in Champagne to the players as a gift for their win — and the players also spent thousands on their own tab, buying all the best top-shelf bottles all night,” a witness told the Post.
Another witness told the Post: “The energy in the room was at another level”.
Also in the house were several LA Clippers and Rams players, plus Ty Dolla $ign and Jeremih — who were on the scene to celebrate their new collaborative album, “MihTy.”
On top of all that, the club had a Halloween theme.
“MihTy” also features French Montana, Chris Brown and Wiz Khalifa.
It’s now emerged that the team’s tab came to around US$300,000 — but when the time came to settle the bill a team official added an extraordinary $270,000 (US$195,000) tip, according to TMZ.
It took the total bill to around US$500,000.
It was cramming an entire lifetime of partying into one night — but rather than call it quits, the Red Sox actually decided to step it up a notch from there.
Four days later there were still no signs of the team slowing down.
After arriving back in Boston one day before the team’s scheduled parade through the streets of the city, Red Sox players, including Mookie Betts, J.D. Martinez, Xander Bogaerts, Eduardo Rodriguez, Eduardo Nunez, Andrew Benintendi and Rick Porcello, went berserk inside Boston nightclub Icon.
The 2018 champs partied with over US$300,000 worth of booze, including two 6-litre bottles of Brut Gold Armand de Brignac worth $20,000, 60 750ml bottles of Ace of Spades and a gigantic 15-litre bottle of Luc Belaire Luxe worth $35,000, according to insiders sourced by The New York Post.
It has been reported the bar tab also included 48 bottles of Dom Perignon.
“They were feeding champagne to people. Everyone was going wild,” a witness said.
“Everyone was soaked.”
For the players that actually went to sleep, they woke up the next day and did it all over again when fans tossed cans of beer up to them during a parade as they rode their team bus through Boston’s streets.
It’s a world you or I will never know.
