Brisbane Broncos prop Payne Haas is celebrating the arrival of his second child, a baby boy named Luckee.
Haas’ partner, Leilani Mohenoa, gave birth early on December 5, nine days ahead of the baby’s expected due date of December 14.
The proud father, 25, shared the news on Instagram a week later, on December 12.
Posting a series of black-and-white photos, Haas captured a tender moment between his eldest daughter, Lalita, 3, and her newborn baby brother.
“Luckee meets Lala, 5.12.24,” the caption read.
The post was flooded with congratulatory messages from Haas’ NRL teammates and colleagues, including Kurt Capewell, David Fifita, and Tristan Sailor.
Haas and Mohenoa, who welcomed their daughter Lalita in May 2021, revealed they were expecting their second child – a little boy – in November.
At the time, Haas spoke to the Courier-Mail about the excitement of expanding their family and the anticipation of their son’s early arrival.
“I’m going to be a dad again, I’m ready for more chaos,” Haas said last month.
“I love having a daughter, so it’s going to be a different experience having a son. He’s due around December 14, but he might come sooner because he’s already pretty big.”
The announcement comes after a tumultuous year for the Broncos star, both on and off-field turbulence.
His mother Joan is awaiting trial over an alleged fatal car crash.
While in May, his father Gregor was charged overseas with allegedly trafficking 5kg of crystal methamphetamine from Mexico into Indonesia.
With Joan and Gregor unable to care for their 10 children, Haas stepped up, becoming a legal guardian for his younger brothers Hans, 14, and Geejay, 12, and moving his siblings from the Gold Coast to live with him in Brisbane.
