Kerley, 29, encountered officers who were on the 100 block of 9th Street and expressed concern about his car, which was parked nearby.

The Olympian was asked by officers to vacate the scene but refused. According to reports, he became aggressive and assumed a fighting stance.

Back-up units were called in to assist in de-escalating the situation and a taser was used to subdue Kerley.

Officers’ body cam footage obtained by Fox 7 News showed the scene unfolding.

A female onlooker can be heard repeatedly screaming “stop” as the incident took place.

At the Miami Beach precinct, he was charged with battery on a police officer, corrections officer or firefighter, resisting an officer without violence and disorderly conduct.

It’s unclear whether Kerley had any relation to the investigation police were in the midst of conducting when he arrived at the scene.

Kerley, a native Texan, has appeared in two Olympic Games for Team USA.

At the 2020 games in Tokyo, he took home the silver medal in the 100 metres.

His second Olympic appearance came at the Paris 2024 games, where he earned a bronze medal in the 100m.
