It’s been a memorable trip for billionaire Gina Rinehart, who has been elevated to “godmother” status among some in the Australian swim team for her passionate support.
Now, the 70-year-old worth a reported $46.3 billion has found the ultimate souvenir of her time at the Paris Olympics.
The day after she treated Australian Olympic medallists to a lavish cruise along the River Seine – featuring a seven-course meal and performance by Matteo Bocelli – Rinehart sat for a portrait in the Paris district of Montmartre.
After the recent controversy surrounding a portrait of Rinehart at the National Gallery of Australia, one wonders where this one will end up.
A photo on the S. Kidman & Co Facebook page showed Mrs Rinehart with the sketch underway, and another captured company chief executive Adam Giles enjoying a champagne lunch.
“Relaxing with my Kidman boots up waiting for the boss to get her portrait done,” Giles wrote.
He’s not the only one rocking the boots. While Giles had opted for a subtle black, athletes on the river cruise on Monday were given pairs of $625 limited edition gold boots.
They’ve been a hit, particularly with silver medallist equestrian rider Chris Burton.
Burton’s feet were dazzling gold on an afternoon ride at his equestrian centre in the UK on Tuesday.
Rinehart bankrolls more than 90 athletes, including Ariarne Titmus, Kaylee McKeown, Mollie O’Callaghan, Kyle Chalmers and Emma McKeon.
