Olympic champ’s wardrobe malfunction thrills fans: ‘Holy smokes’

Italian Olympic champion Thomas Ceccon has proven that some people truly have it all after sending fans into a frenzy.

The heart-warming moment that brought new champ, Mollie O'Callaghan, to tears

Some guys have it all and Italy’s gold medal-winning swimmer Thomas Ceccon is one of them.

The 23-year-old claimed the 100m backstroke title in Paris, becoming the first Italian to ever podium in the event.

It comes after he entered his second Games a world champion, the 100m backstroke world record holder and already an Olympic medallist — he won 4x100m freestyle silver and 4x100m medley bronze in Tokyo.

But while his performances have caught the attention of the world, the youngster’s model good looks have also taken social media by storm.

Atop the podium celebrating his gold medal, fans were thirsting over his rugged good looks.

“Olympics’ next top model and gold medallist; Thomas Ceccon. No wonder he won, that jawline probably split the water in half when he dove in,” one admired said.

Another simply said: “Thomas Ceccon is so beautiful.”

An American fan posted: “All American patriotism leaving my body when Thomas Ceccon is on my screen.”

Another wrote: “Holy smokes.”

But one fan went the next level, writing: “A few hours ago, I didn’t know who Thomas Ceccon was, but now I’m sure he could become a modern Helen of Troy. I would go to war for his beauty, write songs for him, and dare to say that the very gods themselves have blessed him.”

It’s not the only time he’s caught the attention of fans.

Italy claimed bronze in the 4x100m freestyle relay on the opening night of competition with Ceccon waving to fans and exposing the bottom of his midriff.

One fan said: “I just watched Thomas Ceccon win a gold medal for 100M backstroke so he’s not only hot but also an Olympic gold medallist.”

Another suggested: “The Italian swimmer Ceccon probably has a modelling contract.”

A third posted: “Thomas Ceccon gets an increase in insta followers every 4 years.”

Ceccon’s historic 100m backstroke gold medal truly broke the USA’s stranglehold on the event.

Before Tokyo, the Yanks had won the 100m backstroke title each Games between Atlanta 1996 and Rio 2016.

Russia’s Evgeny Rylov broke the streak in Tokyo — where Ceccon finished fourth — and the Italian has now ensured the streak is well and truly over as America’s Ryan Murphy could only manage third in Paris.

It was Italy’s second gold medal of the meet following Nicolo Martinenghi’s triumph in the 100m breaststroke on Sunday.

“Ever since I was a kid I knew I could win this medal and today is that day,” a delighted Ceccon told Italy’s Rai television.

“I can’t be happier. As a kid, at 15, the coach asked me: ‘What is your dream?’ I answered: ‘To win the Olympics’, and he said: ‘Calm down’. It’s always been my dream.

“Winning here isn’t like at the World Championships, it’s a race that happens every four years. I went strong and tried to hold on until the end. And in the end I was exhausted.”
