The Paris Olympics is in full swing and Australia is off to a hot start, leading the medal tally after day one following three gold medals to begin the Games.
There is plenty more to come for Australia, with star paddler Jess Fox leading the way.

JESS FOX
Fox has put herself in the perfect position to finally claim gold in the women’s kayak slalom in Paris. She finished in the bronze medal position in Tokyo and has already shown she is determined to improve after finishing with a time of 92.18 in the heats, nearly a second faster than any of her rivals. The top 12 from the semifinals qualify for the final which Fox should make comfortably.

CHLOE COVELL
Covell is set to be one of three Australians competing in the women’s street skateboarding event alongside Liv Lovelace and Haylie Powell. Yet it’s the 14-year-old Covell who is set to gain all the attention. She won X Games gold before she was even a teenager and set a new PB earlier this year. One of Australia’s youngest athletes at the Games could also be sporting a new piece of gold bling by Sunday afternoon.
REBECCA HENDERSON
Rebecca Henderson is gearing up to compete at an incredible fourth Olympics is one of the most gruelling events on the calendar. She debuted at the Olympics as a 20-year-old but is arguably in career-best form following three World Cup events in 2022. After four Olympic campaigns, regardless of the result this looms as a special ride for the 32-year-old. She’ll also be looking to prove on her previous best at the Games of 24th.
MATILDAS
Things didn’t go to plan for the Tillies in their 3-0 first-up loss to Germany, leaving their chances on qualifying to the knockout stages on a knife’s edge. It’s Zambia that awaits them on Sunday and if the Matildas are dreaming of medals, this simply must be a dominant win. The African nation won’t let the Aussies have it all their own way, but look for the Matildas to finally click into gear.
WOMEN’S AUSSIE 7S
The men almost broke their Olympic medal drought on Saturday, however, the women go into Paris as red-hot favourites. Scintillating form across the Rugby Sevens World Series is the perfect preparation for this team of world-beaters. South Africa and Great Britain pose two tough opening matches but the Aussies won’t fear either of them.
JACK ROBINSON
Robinson has his work cut out for him to qualify for the next stage of the surfing competition. He was controversially denied the win in his round one heat against Joan Duru, but has a chance to bounce back against Peru’s Lucca Mesinas as he looks to master the swell at Teahupo’o again.
