KARRIE Webb helped with golf’s bid to win Olympic inclusion and she now needs a top 10 finish at the US Women’s Open to make the party.

The Hall of Famer’s world ranking has slipped to No.59 so she needs to grind out one last gutsy performance in a career overflowing with them when the tournament opens in California on Thursday.

She will miss out unless she leapfrogs Victoria’s Su Oh (No.39) to secure the second spot on the Aussie team for the Rio Olympics next month beside Minjee Lee (No.13).

Webb, 41, is class all the way.

She played a practice round with Oh at the CordeValle course and is still nurturing the girl she ushered to the 2013 US Women’s Open as an amateur winner of the Karrie Webb Scholarship.

Webb hasn’t had a top 10 in the five months since her third at the Women’s Australian Open so the odds do looked stacked against the two-time US Open winner.

The Olympic dream has kept Webb motivated.

“I’ve loved the Olympics since I can remember. I remember watching the Moscow Olympics on TV with mum and dad (in 1980),” she said.

Qualifying for Rio finishes with this US Open.

“I’d be lying if I said I haven’t been thinking about it,” Webb told the Golf Channel in the US.

“A couple years ago, everyone thought it was guaranteed.

“I knew Minjee and Su were coming through so it doesn’t surprise me I’m on the outside looking in. It just surprises me that I haven’t played better.

“If I play well, and it’s not enough, then it wasn’t meant to be.”
