AUSTRALIA’S newest multi-millionaire Matthew Dellavedova drives a Mazda, won’t spend money on clothes and celebrates with Coronas over $1000 champagne.

No wonder he plans to splash the cash from his new $38 million contract on a pilates machine and a basement ice bath.

The one-time Pies fan from Maryborough has officially hit the big time with that four-year deal with the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Cleveland NBA champion was officially selected in Australia’s 12-man Olympics squad after a lightning trip back to America to pass a medical test.

But the Bucks head office need not worry about his body given its maintenance is the only place where he plans to make it rain.

Dellavedova was his typical sheepish self when asked about the magnitude of a deal worth $51.2 million Australian.

“Yeah, I don’t really know what it means or what it will mean for me yet. I have got to meet my financial adviser when I get back to America,’’ he told the Herald Sun.

“The thing I am most excited about is I can use it to see how good I can be.

“I am going to make my basement a recovery basement. Ice bath, spa, some weights, pilates reformer.

“I am not a flashy guy, I am not into the fluff of that stuff, I am not into clothes and cars.

“I will make sure my mum and dad are taken care of and just try to use it to see how good I can be with taking care of my body and training.”

Fellow Boomers star Andrew Bogut is financially smart with his huge wage, but even he has a car collection in the “double figures” that once included a 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429.

It won’t surprise you to know Dellavedova, 25, doesn’t even officially own a car.

“I don’t have one in Australia right now but in America this year the local dealership gave me a Mazda CX5 which was nice to drive around Cleveland in.”

A picture of “Delly” celebrating Cleveland’s title in a Las Vegas nightclub drinking a humble Corona can rather than exotic champagne quickly went viral.

But that down-to-earth nature was why he was so beloved in Cleveland, and why leaving was so hard to do.

“It was tough to leave Cleveland because I enjoyed my three years there so much and when you win a title together you will always have that bond,’’ he said.

“I am looking forward to the first reunion, but I am also looking forward to going to Milwalkee, an exciting young team that have a lot of potential.

“Even though I am only 25 I feel like I am very experienced through international competition and playing in the finals.”
