HOCKEYROOS star Anna Flanagan has been snubbed for the Rio Olympics despite being cleared for selection after she failed to disclose a drink driving conviction.

Flanagan’s non-selection comes days after being given the all clear by the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) after she was caught driving at three times the legal blood alcohol limit in March.

Madonna Blythe, Australian’s most-capped female hockey player, will captain a 16-strong squad that includes 12 debutants.

The squad boast only four returning Olympians in Blyth, leading the team in her third Olympic campaign, Casey Sablowski, who was the youngest player at the Beijing 2008 Games and London 2012 Olympians Emily Smith and Jodie Kenny.

“It’s obviously a privilege and special every time that I lead the girls out onto the pitch, but at an Olympic Games it’s even more so,” Blyth said.

Brooke Peris, Edwina Bone, Gabrielle Nance, Georgina Parker, Georgina Morgan, Grace Stewart, Jane-Anne Claxton, Karri McMahon, Kathryn Slattery, Kirstin Dwyer, Mariah Williams and Rachael Lynch will all be making their Olympic debut in Rio.
