The NRL is investigating an ugly brawl between Roosters and Rabbitohs fans in the grandstand at Accor Stadium on Friday night.

“The NRL will work with the venue, security and NSW Police to identify instigators and take action through the NRL Spectator Code of Conduct,” an NRL spokesperson said.

“Anti-social or abusive behaviour at NRL matches will not be tolerated.”

Video footage shows a group of more than 10 people exchanging punches as security try to stop the fight at Accor Stadium.

The groups exchange a flurry of punches throughout the ordeal.

People are seen to be taken from the venue. The incident occurred late in the second half when scores were level.

A Venues NSW spokesman confirmed the incident.

“During the Rabbitohs-Roosters match, an altercation between two groups of males took place during the second half,” a spokesman said.

“Police and security responded and, ultimately, two groups of 11 males were evicted via different stadium gates. No medical assistance was required and no injuries were reported.

“NSW Police and Venues NSW are reviewing the incident to identify the instigators. Any offenders will be dealt with by police and face bans from attending future events.

“Venues NSW has a zero-tolerance approach to anti-social behaviour and we have in place strong processes to identify, respond to and resolve incidents.”

A NSW Police spokesperson confirmed inquiries into the matter are ongoing.

“About 9.40pm last night (Friday 4 March 2025), police and security at a stadium in Sydney Olympic Park were called to a section of stands following reports of a brawl during a football game,” the spokesperson said.

“Officers were told two groups of people were involved in the brawl.

“All people involved were ejected from the venue by security. No injuries were reported.

“Police have commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“Inquiries are ongoing.”

The Rabbitohs won the game in the dying stages 20-14.
