WITH a forgettable game coming to a close, it didn’t appear as though things could get any worse for the Sydney Roosters.
But not only did the Cowboys score with the last play of the game, Roosters’ veteran utility forward Ian Henderson suffered what looked to be a horrific lower leg injury in the same movement.
Henderson was trapped awkwardly at the bottom of an attempted tackle and as the forces of three bodies moved in one direction, his leg went the other.
Henderson went straight to ground with his hand up to motion for the trainer, with stomach churning replays indicating he may have broken his leg.
Early and unconfirmed reports suggested the 32-year-old had suffered a compound fracture, with an ambulance coming on to the field to provide treatment before taking him to hospital.
An already miserable night for the visitors finished up even worse and social media lit up with sympathy and best wishes for the journeyman.
Trent Robinson spoke recently about how good and tough Ian Henderson was for him at Catalans in the Super League. Terrible luck tonight.

Apparently suspected compound fracture for Ian Henderson. A lot of concern on the field. Ambulance out there. #nrl
