Top 50 schoolboy rugby league players: 2024 ASSRL Nationals cause shock rankings changes

The best schoolboy rugby league talent was on show at the ASSRL Nationals. We’ve re-ranked the top 50 players following the national titles – and there are some big movers.

Boom Bulldogs playmaker Mitchell Woods has overcome a tough week at the national secondary schools championships to claim the Australian Schoolboys No.6 jersey.

Woods and NSW Combined Independents School (CIS) halves partner Toby Rodwell - an emerging star with the Sydney Roosters - won the hotly-contested halves positions in the national side, edging out Dragons youngster Kade Reed and Queensland’s Zane Harrison.

They did it despite the NSW CIS side failing to make the final. Instead, it was NSW Combined Catholic Colleges (CCC) who won the national title, beating NSW Combined High Schools (CHS) on Friday in Coffs Harbour.

They were rewarded with seven players in the Australian side to play PNG later in the year including two of the stars of the final - Newcastle Knights prop Cody Hopwood and Dragons back-rower Jacob Halangahu.

Penrith youngster Jack Attard was also named in the Australian side after starring in the No.1 jersey - he scored a try and kicked five goals in the final, which NSW CCC won 40-12.
