FORGET the leafy lower north shore, it is gloomy Hull where Todd Carney is set to resurrect his rugby league career.
Just months after walking away from a contract with the Cowboys to be in Sydney for family reasons, reports have emerged that Carney will join English Super League club Hull KR for the rest of the season as they battle to avoid relegation.
After leaving the Cowboys, Carney was set to play for the North Sydney Bears in the NSW Cup despite the arrangement attracting staunch criticism from the Bears’ parent club South Sydney.
But Carney was unwilling to part with the $15,000 demanded of him to secure his release by Northern Pride, who he had linked up with before joining the Cowboys.
The Hull Daily Mail has reported Carney will join former Kangaroos coach Tim Sheens at Hull KR.
