NATHAN Peats has been a focal point of video sessions for many NRL teams but he probably never thought that would include his own.
All Peats and his Titans teammates could do was laugh when vision of the crafty hooker popped up during the Gold Coast’s preparations for Saturday night’s clash against Parramatta in Darwin.
Peats joined the Titans mid-season after being released by the Eels as they desperately tried to free salary cap space to be allowed to play for competition points.
The 25-year-old will come up against his former club for the first time on Saturday night and can put another nail into the coffin of Parramatta’s controversial season.
“He’s pretty relaxed,” Titans coach Neil Henry said.
“I’m sure he’s determined to do well. He’s a fierce competitor.
“We were watching vision as a preview on Parramatta and there was Nathan passing the ball and running.
“It was only a few weeks ago (that he was at Parramatta). It’s their loss and our gain. We’ve been fortunate to be able to pick him up.’’
Peats has started his two games for the Titans from the bench, playing in the back-row and rotating at hooker with co-captain Nathan Friend.
It is possible he could move into a starting role at some stage and Henry said he had been impressed with how well Peats had fit into the Titans mould.
“He’s settled in quickly,” he said.
“He’s been very good with how he’s handled it. He’s turned it into a positive.’’
