He saved a couple of tries and scored one 100m four-pointer as the Titans came from 0-8 down to beat the Broncos at Cbus Super Stadium last Friday night.

Mead has enough metal _ five titanium plates and 20 screws _ in his jaw to set off an airport metal detector from a suburb away

The metal is there after operations to repair a broken jaw three times in his career.

Titans fans were quick to reward Mead with a nine of 10 in The Courier-Mail’s Queensland Fans Favourite survey, which we are running all season.

Thirty-four per cent of respondent rated Mead a nine and another 23 per cent awarded him an eight while one in five fans went a step further, ranking him a perfect 10.

WE NEED KILLER INSTINCT: THAIDAY

Titans co-captains Nate Myles and Greg Bird continue to lead the way, with each being rated eight our of 10 by fans. In Myles’s case, 34 per cent of fans ticked eight while 28 per cent went that way for Bird (another 24 per cent rated him a nine).

Broncos fans preferred to concentrate on the positives from the Robina performance, rating the entire front row of Josh McGuire (32 per cent), Andrew McCullough (30) and Corey Parker (30) as well as halfback Ben Hunt (34) eights.

The fans weren’t as forgiving for fullback Ben Barba and star centre Justin Hodges who were rated below the five-point pass mark.

GORDIE SLAMS NRL COACHES

Cowboys fans were not impressed by the loss to the Wests Tigers at Campbelltown but Queensland State of Origin team-mates Brent Tate (8 from 27 per cent of voters) and Matt Scott (8, 23) escaped their wrath.

Don’t forget to rate your favourite players every week in our surveys. We’re keeping the tallies and at the end of the season will name the Fan Favourite at each Queensland NRL club.
