FORMER Gold Coast Titans coach John Cartwright has today signed a one-year deal to join North Queensland Cowboys as an assistant coach for 2015.
Cartwright was the Titans foundation coach from 2007 until he quit last year as the Gold Coast failed to make the finals for the fourth straight year.
The immediate return to coaching comes as somewhat of a surprise given Cartwright’s original desire to take some time away from football after eight long years at the helm of a club that had battled through some hardship.
Cartwright visited the Cowboys club in Townsville today where it was confirmed he would join coach Paul Green’s coaching staff alongside David Furner.
HENRY CONFIRMS MYLES TO LEAD TITANS
“There’s no doubt John brings an outstanding coaching resume to the Cowboys,” general manager — football Peter Parr said.
“His arrival is a huge boost for our club and gives us an outstanding coaching staff to take into the coming season.”
