THE Titans are facing a hooker crisis in the lead-up to a bumper showdown against Cronulla with Nathan Friend and Nathan Peats battling hamstring injuries.

Friend will miss two-three weeks with a low-grade hamstring tear, meaning the retiring co-captain’s NRL career has not been brought to a premature end.

The last thing coach Neil Henry needed was an injury to Peats, who has been excellent since joining the Titans from Parramatta.

Peats’s injury is a serious blow to the Titans.

Peats played 80 minutes against his former club on Saturday but suffered a hamstring injury too.

Peats is in serious doubt for next Monday’s home game against the Sharks and would be a disastrous loss for the Titans.

The Gold Coast must win at least three of their final six games to qualify for the finals for the first time since 2010.

If Peats is sidelined, Kierran Moseley and Ryan Simpkins could form an unlikely dummy-half rotation against Cronulla, who are shooting for 16 straight wins.
