Here’s five things we learned from the Titans 42-34 win over the Sea Eagles in Manly.
1. Garth Brennan’s savage spray may have saved the Titans from the wooden-spoon. The rookie coach lashed his players at half-time and their response delivered the win that moves them two wins clear of the last-placed Cowboys. The Titans don’t deserve to finish last.

2. AJ Brimson has the potential to be Gold Coast’s next superstar. Not since foundation player Preston Campbell danced around the park have the Titans had such an exciting attacking whiz. The 19-year-old scored two tries and his sizzling try just before half-time underlined his talent.
3. Gold Coast’s wingers have been a shining light this season. Anthony Don (15 tries) and Phillip Sami (14) have scored 29 tries between them this season. Don’s opening try on Friday night saw him equal the club record of 67 tries held by David Mead.
4. Kane Elgey gave Manly fans a glimpse of his potential. The Titans pivot signed a two-year deal with Manly last week and produced his best game of the season, having a hand in two second-half tries. He looked confident.
5. Gold Coast need to fix their defence if they want to be a top-eight side next season. Their first-half display was simply awful with too many Titans players guilty of jersey grabbing under fatigue.
