THE Gold Coast Titans centre curse may have struck again after impressive teenager Brian Kelly went down at training Tuesday morning.
Kelly hyperextended his right knee during a routine training drill and limped from the field.
The 19-year-old was assessed by Titans medical staff and left the session for further treatment.
Initial signs didn’t suggest it was a serious injury however Kelly is likely to undergo further tests.
Kelly was in the mix for an NRL debut in Round 1 given right centre Nene Macdonald is likely to miss the game due to a knee injury.
Kelly has been a standout during the pre-season and starred for the NSW under-20s last year with four tries.
Left centre Josh Hoffman is also racing the clock to prove his fitness after battling a knee injury for the past six weeks which prevented him from playing in any trials.
Centre has been a poisoned chalice for the Titans.
James Roberts left the club late last year following a contract bungle while Macdonald and Hoffman haven’t played any trial matches with the Titans.

The Titans have also had some bad luck at training after Kane Elgey suffered a season-ending knee injury in the first session of the year.
Hoffman is expected to face the Knights at Cbus Super Stadium on March 6 and ex-Parramatta young gun Nathan Davis will likely be his centre partner.
