KONRAD Hurrell stars but does David Mead still have the speed?
Here’s five things we learned from the Titans 32-12 win over the Dragons.
1) JOSH Hoffman was outstanding in his 150th career game, running for 153m and setting up a try for Nathan Peats with a massive step off his left foot. His defence remains a work in progress though as the Titans work to shore up their edges against raiders who have spotted the deficiencies.
2) KONRAD Hurrell may not have scored but he showed enough with 14 powerful runs that he will make an impact for the Titans as they make a run towards the finals. Hurrell remains below full fitness but he will be better for last night’s run after recovering from a calf injury.
3) THE ability to bring Agnatius Paasi off the bench is a luxury for the Titans. The former Warrior is having a breakout year and continues to trouble opposition defences with his strong running and offloading ability.
PROMISE: Origin will never leave Suncorp
AGAIN: Brisbane to host 2017 World Cup final
4) NENE Macdonald will be fighting to retain his spot in the side when William Zillman returns from a foot injury and David Mead shuffles back to the wing but the Queensland Emerging Origin squad member showed with his double last night he can be a valuable finisher for the Titans.
5) DAVID Mead insists he is back to his best but his lack of speed when he made a break to get in the clear was worrying. Mead returned from eight weeks on the sidelines and will be better for the run but needs to regain his speed to be a weapon.
